Anyway...

The first term nation in the middle ages was used on faculties of Italy to describe students that origin from the same area. It entered the french academic dictionary in the 19 st.
The biggest problem was how to create the sense of collective awareness to the individue. That's when the stories about common history and common faith began. Every newage country created a myth about it's origin and her heroes. Those national stories were praising of it's own nation and most commonly didn't have to do anything with reality but have still entered the nations history. It is important for myths to be told, and therefore live in the mind of the people. Unprecedented and unique national myth connected people into a national identity...

Students of Siberian Cadet Corps of Russian Empire - were late for evacuation from Omsk before bolshevics occupied the city, then resisted them till the end.
Bolshevics hammered a nails to their shoulders, because they didnt reject the epaulettes of Russian Army.
